The end of Alzheimer’s starts with us. Last weekend, the State College region rallied together for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – one of 600+ walks held nationwide. This year, the State College Walk shattered their all-time fundraising record by raising over $109,000!

Juniper Village at Brookline’s own Liz Plozner Chalfa served as the Walk chairperson this year.

“We are so excited and thrilled that the State College community has banned together and has exceeded the 2019 goal. We are so excited for 2020 and invite anyone interested to join the Walk committee,” says Liz.

Juniper Village at Brookline has been proud to support the State College Walk since its inception and congratulates top fundraising teams David’s Dreamers, Penn State’s Sigma Kappa Theta Phi, and Penn State Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence for raising nearly $40,000 collectively!

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 5 million Americans currently live with the disease. The funds raised by the teams help the Alzheimer’s Association to increase awareness and fund research for a cure.

If you are helping to care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, Juniper Village at Brookline offers a monthly Alzheimer’s support group. The group meets the first Friday of every month from 1-2PM and the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30-7:30PM. Contact Erin at 814-235-2000 for more information.
