Juniper Communities is known by its staff and residents for having a deep Halloween spirit, and this year Juniper Village at Brookline Senior Living did not disappoint. With the theme of Witches and Wizards, the entrance to The Inn was transformed into a festive cauldron of floating candles, spider webs, and mystical potions. The doors were opened to the community for the annual Safe Trick or Treat Night in which many children came in costume to receive candy from residents and watch the Halloween classic movie, Hocus Pocus. Attendees included staff children, residents’ great-grandchildren, and community members.
Staff dressed in themes that ranged from famous characters such as Harry Potter and Endora, to witches of all styles. Throughout the day, residents enjoyed voting for their favorite costumes in four categories: Best Overall Witch or Wizard Costume, Best TV/Film Witch or Wizard, Spookiest Witch or Wizard, and Funniest Witch or Wizard.
Residents took part in Connections programs in which they also enjoyed the day by creating and wearing costume decorated witch’s hats and enjoying tasty themed treats such as pumpkin shaped rice crispy treats and cannoli iced as witch’s fingers.
This fun filled spirited day is a wonderful way to kick off a season of celebrations. In the upcoming weeks, Juniper Village at Brookline Senior Living will enjoy a Harvest Fest brunch and begin preparations for December holidays.
