At Juniper, we take food very seriously through the “H’art and Soul of Dining” – one of our Signature Programs that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit through culinary experiences.
For the second year in a row, Juniper Village at Brookline took this program on the road by participating in Taste of the Town to benefit the Centre County United Way. Taste of the Town is a culinary extravaganza featuring the best chefs and restaurants in our region. This fundraiser, which attracts over 450 people, is a great way to give back to the community.
This year, Chef Kris Kishbaugh kicked it up a notch by partnering with Seven Mountains Winery to feature Blue and White Scallops: seared diver scallops on a creamy blue cheese sauce, accented with a blueberry wine reduction. The scallops were paired with a sampling of Seven Mountains Chardonnay, hand poured by the winemaker himself, Scott Bubb. The team was assisted by Juniper’s registered dietician Katherine Haar. The fresh, decadent Blue and White Scallops were a crowd favorite, with many people coming back for more!
Said Chef Kris, “I think it is important to do events like Taste of the Town to showcase the cuisine that our residents get to enjoy… I think it is vital in our efforts to show that Juniper is not only leading the industry in technology and care, but is also innovative in our thoughts when comes to food and nutrition.”
