Residents of Applewood Place, A Juniper Senior Living Community, have been working hard in art and creative writing workshops!
They’ve taken a particular interest in art and writing practices that remix words or images from our daily lives, such as cut-up poetry, where we simply cut up old newspapers, books and magazines and rearrange the words to make poems. A true sense of fun and wonder arises when we see our finished poems in Cut-Up Poetry Class- sometimes the poems are profound, nonsensical, or hilarious! Everyone has a creative self, and sometimes all that’s needed to activate it is an old magazine.
