February 4th is National Thank A Mail Carrier Day. At Juniper Village in Forest Hills, the residents got together at the end of January and handmade cards, decorated gifts bags and filled each bag with a little something for our community mailman David.
On the morning of February 4th, when David came to deliver our mail, we surprised him with an entire box of presents … all for him! One of our Resident Ambassador’s, Honey Meglio, had a hand in making the gifts and agreed to be the one to give David his treats. Each gift had a clever little saying in a card that accompanied it. For example, one of the gifts was a card with two Tootsie Pops and the saying in the card read, “To enjoy while you’re on the go,
’cause you’re always on the “roll!”
David said he didn’t even realize today was a special day and was delighted with all of the fun gifts! He said he was going to have fun opening them all later today! These “resident creations” are done monthly to be donated to a particular person or group. We look forward to hearing how David enjoyed all of the gifts he got!
