Jon has been a resident of Juniper Village at the Spearly Center for six years. He is a quiet person who celebrates life in his own way every day. First, Jon is a highly accomplished artist. His work, whether a simple sketch, a pen and ink drawing, or a full-color painting is stunning. Jon spends time virtually every day in the Juniper Village art studio working on his passion. While at work, he is intensely focused and entirely joyful. Jon’s spirit is evident both in his creative process and the finished pieces.
Second, and more recently, Jon has discovered a passion for bicycling. Every Sunday he would walk about a mile to go to his favorite church, The Sanctuary. While attending church one day, his friend Caroline said she had a bicycle, an AMF Roadmaster, that had been in her garage for over 15 years, just collecting dust, and offered to give it to Jon. He happily accepted her offer. With some bicycle tuning, a set of new tires, a helmet, reflectors and instruction with Physical Therapy and Connections, Jon now rides his bike to church every Sunday. In fact, he takes bike rides at least 4 times a week. He enjoys working on distance and endurance skills, going to the grocery store and the library, where he works on a novel he is writing.
Jon truly embodies our motto “active body, engaged mind, and fulfilled spirit”!
