Juniper Village at Louisville gives back at Coal Creek Meals on Wheels

Nothing makes you feel better than giving back!  So, that’s exactly what we did. We spend the morning preparing snack bags for that days delivery.  Coal Creek Meals on Wheels was established in 1972 by Lafayette resident Sue Marolf, a Board of Directors and two staff members. In 2015, the organization moved from its original location, the First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, to Josephine Commons. A larger kitchen and a dining room now allow the provision of meals for more than 100 delivery clients and up to 70 onsite diners every weekday.   They make high-quality, nutrient-dense meals every weekday to individuals limited in physical capacity due to illness, age and/or disability. Menus are created by our staff, who are conscious of the many health issues faced by the populations we serve.  Daily interaction between their  volunteers and clients decreases social isolation of clients and creates opportunities for volunteers to check on their well-being.
