The sound of the harp is often best described as being the musical representation of Angels.
That heavenly sound is exactly what our residents and guests experienced on April 9th when Abby McMillen, the wife of Juniper Village at Brookline Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Environmental Services Director, Jason McMillen, came to share her amazingly beautiful talents. Over thirty attendees came together in the community Gathering Room for the special performance of traditionally familiar tunes such as Danny Boy, Wind Beneath my Wings, and If I Were a Rich Man.
When asked why she chose to play the harp, Abby shared many heartwarming anecdotes that any musical student may be able to recognize, but the single greatest thing that Abby credited to her devotion and love of playing the harp was that of her mother’s encouragement. As a young child Abby wanted to play a musical instrument and her mother suggested to her that she play the harp as it was uniquely beautiful to look at, even more angelic to hear, and one not just anyone could play.
Abby’s generous donation of her time and talents is just one of our most recent examples of how associate family members and friends invest themselves in order to ensure that Juniper is alive and well in all seasons.
